When I went up to him and stroked his face I saw immediately that there was a discharge coming from somewhere around his face, but I wasn't sure where as he wouldn't let me touch it, he was obviously in pain.
I immediately called the owners to let them know what was happening and that I was needing to take the cat to the emergency vet. They were in absolute agreement.
I called the vets to let them know I was on my way. It turned out to be an abscess on the jaw which was totally treatable with antibiotics.
I took him back to his house where I made sure he was comfortable in his own space and with instructions from the vet to regularly bathe the wound. I also kept the owners informed at all times.
When registering with Happy Pet Care's services I ask customers to fill in a 'Vet Release form', which I would need to hand over to the vet if ever anything like the above scenario occurred. I was so thankful I had that form to hand and that I had full backing of the cats owners.
Phew!! I am happy to say now that the kitty cat is much better after his ordeal :)
